ST. CROIX COUNTY (WQOW) - The criminal charge filed against a school bus driver following a crash on I-94 has been dismissed.
As News 18 reported, a school bus carrying students from DeLong Middle School crashed on I-94 in St. Croix County in April. The crash happened on the bridge going over the St. Croix River in Hudson, where construction had traffic down to one lane. The school bus rear-ended a tanker truck after a car had slowed to a stop to allow another car to enter traffic.
Eight people, including six students, reported injuries according to Wisconsin State Patrol.
The driver, Christopher Leubner, was given a traffic citation for following too closely and was charged with unauthorized operation of a school bus, a misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint filed at the time, Leubner had a passenger endorsement on his license but not a school bus endorsement.
According to paperwork filed with the court, the charge was dismissed because Leubner did have the proper licenses and permits.
Leubner pleaded no contest to the traffic citation of following too closely. He was ordered to pay $208.50.
