Bravo to the Children's Chorus

Bravo to the Children's Chorus

Walking into the Cameo Saturday morning I had a bit of a drag in my step even though I was anticipating the St. Helena Children's Chorus performance. And it happened again: Those children lifted me right up out of my doldrums.

When Craig Bond -- and daughter Melissa to whom he gives a lot of credit -- says Go, those kids get with it: The right note, the harmony, the lyrics are all inside them and the Bonds can bring them out.

I sat at the performance trying to count up the values that they learn from this experience: Respect, listening well, following instructions, patience, discipline, self-control, community congeniality; honor for one's self through accomplishing something with others.

Memorizing well over a dozen pieces of music and singing each one precisely guarantee that you will have music at your service for the rest of your life.

They were beautiful, yes, and the parents who give the Bonds full control of the time their children spend with them are wise ones.

Gratitude always to Cathy Buck and her splendid programs at the Cameo. You enrich our lives week after week.

However, I walked into the theater that morning, I walked out with a soul full of thanksgiving, joy, and a peace on earth that defies all conditions. Thank you, children of St. Helena. You are fl owing right into hope for our world.
