An 88-year-old woman walking in the street died after she was struck by a pickup on Monday evening in Cedar Park, officials said Tuesday.
Elisabeth Barker died at the scene, according to a news release from the Cedar Park Police Department. Officials were notified at 6:23 p.m. Monday.
Barker was walking in the road on Royal Lane when the driver of a pickup traveling south struck her, police said. They said she was wearing dark clothing and was walking on an unlit part of the dark road when the collision happened.
"We believe the driver of the pickup truck was unable to see the pedestrian walking in the roadway until it was too late," the release said. The driver, who stopped at the scene, was not identified in the release. No charges are pending, said Alicia Gallagher, a police spokeswoman.
