The head and hands of a 16-year-old girl last seen alive nearly 20 years ago were discovered in the freezer of a Colorado home that sold earlier this year, officials said Friday. Mesa County Sheriff's Office announced.
Investigators disclosed the remains belonged to teen Amanda Leariel Overstreet, who was the biological daughter of the home's previous owner and last seen in April 2005, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office announced Friday.
The grisly discovery of a head and forearms attached was made in January, when a person arrived at the home in Grand Junction, about 240 miles west of Denver, to claim the free refrigerator from the new owner.
"The Mesa County Sheriff's Office would like to emphasize that the home where the Pinyon Avenue Homicide investigation centered is now under new ownership, completely unrelated to the previous case," the sheriff's office said, according to ABC News.
"The house was purchased, fully remodeled and sold to the current owner. We urge you to respect the current owner and their neighbors' privacy and avoid driving by the home or taking photos."
There were no records that Overstreet was ever reported missing.
