Season 11 of 90 Day Fiancé kicked off on Sunday, Feb. 16 with the introduction of the series' first-ever throuple, who hoped to share their lives together in the United States.
Matt and Amani, who live in San Diego, were eager to bring their girlfriend Hany over from Mexico on a K-1 visa after dating for about a year. But in order to do so, Matt and Amani would have to dissolve their own marriage. So they planned one last trip to Mexico in anticipation of taking their relationship with Hany to the next level.
"I think that it would devastate us if this trip doesn't go well," Amani said.
However, Matt and Amani's friends, Kelly and Eric, remained skeptical about their friends' idea of bringing a third person into their marriage -- especially after learning the couple may legally separate in order to do so.
"How does that work when you guys are already married?" asked Kelly, who was with Matt and Amani when they first met Hany during a vacation in Mexico.
Matt defended the idea. "We're very comfortable with the positions that we hold in each other's lives," he explained. "So I don't care if by paperwork you want to call me a husband or a boyfriend. I'm going to be in your lives no matter what."
Amani argued that the divorce would "just be on paper," adding, "I don't see them running away together. We're not going to run away together."
But Kelly was worried that friends could get "taken advantage of" in some way. She continued to express concerns about her friends' decision in a confessional.
"There's so much they don't know to be talking, not just getting married to someone you don't know -- but to divorce someone you two know in order to bring in someone into this marriage, it just seems excessive and it seems really fast to me," Kelly explained.
Eric, however, related to Matt and Amani's situation. He was once in a polyamorous relationship, which he enjoyed until jealously crept into his mind.
"They started laughing and having their internal jokes. And it's hard," he told his friends. "Those private moments, those are the things that got me. We really just started to grow apart. Maybe we lost connection.
Matt admitted in a confessional that "there is some truth" to the concerns raised by both Eric and Kelly. Amani confessed to being a jealous person herself, and acknowledged "somebody is going to feel left out" along the way.
"This trip is even more nerve wracking now because we have all these things in the back of our head now that we have to get answered," Amani explained. "Does she feel the same about us as we feel about her? Is she ready to take this to the next level?"
She added, "Nobody wants to hear I told you so. We want to prove them wrong."
Meanwhile, Mark and Mina were already debating having a second child - but Mark's family remained skeptical about their 23-year age difference.
The couple's whirlwind romance began in 2019 when Mark was out for a drink while visiting Paris and "locked eyes" with Mina at a restaurant.
"I don't know why she was staring at me, because she'd probably pick any guy in the place!" he said in a confessional.
Mark, 58, and Mina, 35, dated long distance for two years until Mark proposed. Six months after they were engaged, Mark learned Mina was pregnant with their first child.
Their daughter, Maria, was born in Paris a few months later. Now, not only is he trying to bring his fiancé to the U.S., they want to have another child.
Mark's 27-year-old daughter, Jordan, is among the skeptics. She grew concerned about her father's situation after watching him pay for a lavish baptism for his new baby, which she felt was "over the top."
Jordan raised her concerns during an outing at a driving range in Florida, where she lives. Mark insisted he did not want his children feeling this way.
But Jordan was worried about the effort, or lack thereof, Mina put into getting to know Mark's family. Mark was surprised to hear this.
"My future wife and my daughter have to get along," Mark explained in a confessional. "And if they don't, that's going to be a huge problem going forward because they're both a huge part of my life."
Jordan feared Mina was clouding her father's judgement. "I just think he doesn't really see what everyone else sees," she explained, "and I don't think he sees the potential that this could cause if it doesn't go right."
But despite his daughter's concerns, Mark had a bombshell announcement to share with her: he and Mina were considering having a second child.
Jordan was floored. "That would be devastating," she said in a confessional, later adding, "I almost feel like her having another baby with my dad is her way of separating and taking control over the situation, taking control over him, further dividing the family."
Speaking with her father, Jordan asked if he felt Mina was in the relationship for the right reasons. She then suggested he consider a prenuptial agreement, telling her dad, "It's just there to protect you."
Mark was admittedly hesitant. He previously asked another woman to sign a prenup, "and she flipped out." Ultimately, the prenup problem caused that relationship to end.
"I do see the value in having it, but I'm going to make the choices that fit Mina and Maria and me and our family right now," Mark explained.
Mark promised Jordan that he would never put himself in a position where he would have to choose between her and Mina, and she assured her dad that she believed him. But in a confessional, Jordan indicated she would not hold back when Mina arrived in America.
"I think that she thinks she can get away with it, but when Mina finally comes to the United States, this isn't going to fly anymore," she stated, "and I think we're going to have to have some hard conversations."
