Apple's iOS 18.1 will be a major upgrade considering the number of front-facing changes it will be for the iPhone, and we have been expecting the update for a while now. At the WWDC event in June, Apple showcased all the new AI features it will bring to the iPhone, and it appears that the update is right around the corner. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has shared that the company will release an iOS 18.1 update for the iPhone on October 28 with most of the Apple Intelligence features onboard.
Currently, iOS 18.1 is in its developmental phase, and some of the Apple Intelligence features are already available to developers for testing purposes. However, Gurman notes in his Power On newsletter that the company has finally set a date for its big Apple Intelligence release. Since the update is quite significant, the company is taking its time to curate bugs and offer a smooth release.
It was previously speculated that the iOS 18.1 update will be released for the iPhone on October 15, as the company has released older updates during the same time frame. This time around, we have Apple Intelligence to thank for a slightly later date, as the company requires more work for its AI features that will be coming along with it.
iOS 18.1 will bring the first wave of Apple Intelligence features to the iPhone, and most of these features will be shared by the Apple Watch and the Mac. Apple Intelligence consists of various AI models working together for a streamlined user experience, and one of the most highly anticipated additions is the new Siri. While we can expect some features, others will debut later this year.
We know it will be part of iOS 18.1, which will also include new writing tools, notification summaries, a new Siri interface, and much more. The rest of the features will be available later this year or in early 2025 with the release of iOS 18.2. Based on the latest report, you should get your device ready for iOS 18.1 release on October 28. Additionally, if you have not bought one of the iPhone 16 models yet, now might be the right time to do so.
Apple Intelligence will not be available on all older models as the company has placed a set of requirements for the AI features. You must have an iPhone 15 Pro or later device to get the new Apple Intelligence features with iOS 18.1 release. We will let you know when the update arrives, so do stick around.
