A guitar owned by late rockstar Jeff Beck recently sold for more than $1 million at auction.
Beck's 1954 "Oxblood" Gibson Les Paul sold for £1,068,500 (approximately $1,317,111), according to BBC. The guitar had a pre-auction estimate of £300,000 to £500,000 ($390 to $600 million).
The signature Les Paul is featured on his 1975 "Blow by Blow" album cover.
"Fans will know it from the cover of his debut solo album Blow by Blow, released in 1975, recorded with George Martin," Walker said. "He used it for the encore at the end of David Bowie's final performance as Ziggy Stardust in July 1973."
Beck's Les Paul is just one of more than 130 guitars, amps and pedals Beck's career set to be auctioned at Christie's, where the collection has been on display for a week. The last guitar to be auctioned off will be a white Fender Stratocaster, with money from the sale going to Folley Wildlife Rescue in Tunbridge Wells, a charity that Jeff Beck supported.
The guitar is covered with autographs from all the performers from a Beck tribute concert at the Royal Albert Hall, organized by Eric Clapton in May 2023.
Beck died in 2023 at the age of 78. Beck grew famous as a member of the Yardbirds, alongside fellow Surrey, England guitarists Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page, in the 1960s.
