During Colorado's bye week, two-way star Travis Hunter took center stage on ESPN's "College GameDay," making a special guest appearance on Saturday.
Hunter joined the popular pregame show live from State College, where anticipation was high ahead of the Penn State-Ohio State clash. On set, he shared insights on topics ranging from his ambitions for the Heisman Trophy to his strong bond with head coach Deion Sanders.
"He's like a father figure to me. I went to his house yesterday. Whatever I wanted, he was able to let me get it," Hunter said of Coach Prime. "I took it, even if he didn't want me to take it. We have a father-son bond. I know when I need something I can go and ask him. Pretty sure I will get it 100% of the time."
The Colorado skipper was watching Hunter closely, particularly on social media, where he commented on an ESPN post.
"I just seen him 4 hours ago on a 4 wheeler! Wow!" Sanders said. "He has to be tired. Nah fah-real-tho."
Hunter thrives under a packed schedule and heavy workload. On offense, he's racked up 60 catches for 757 yards and eight touchdowns. Defensively, he's contributed 20 tackles, two interceptions, and seven pass breakups. With his standout two-way play, Hunter is poised to be one of the top picks in April's NFL Draft.
Hunter took some time to explain to the GameDay crew what it takes to play both ways.
"I try to get 10 hours of film, not including what we do at the school. So you've got to watch a lot of film. When you practice, you've got to be full speed, nobody can stop you," Hunter said. "Coach Prime tries to stop me every day in practice, but I won't let him.
"No matter who is in front of me. And I'm not going to get tired. And I just keep going and be focused."
Hunter and Colorado will return from their bye week to face off against Texas Tech on Nov. 9.
