Oct. 21 -- ROCHESTER -- Staffing for approximately 70 temporary positions is being sought to support federal recovery efforts in the wake of June storms and flooding throughout southern Minnesota.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is holding a job fair from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mayo Civic Center. It follows a similar Mankato event last week.
The federal agency is seeking to fill 120-day appointments designed to help coordinate recovery support that could be extended, if needed.
Positions include emergency management specialists, information technology specialists, site inspectors and a variety of other support positions. A listing of open positions are available online at usajobs.gov by searching for "FEMA" as the keyword "FEMA" and "Minnesota" for the location.
Detailed information is provided for each position, including pay, benefits and how to apply.
Job fair participants are asked to bring a resume, two forms of identification, and be prepared to be interviewed.
FEMA reports hiring locally helps build its disaster recovery workforce, since many career FEMA employees began as local hires.
All applicants must be U.S. citizens, 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or GED. Individuals will be required to pass a background investigation that includes fingerprinting and credit check.
