A 27-year-old woman pleaded guilty Thursday to attacking her girlfriend in Fullerton and was immediately sentenced to a year in jail.
Veronica Dawn Lawson pleaded guilty to domestic battery causing injury with a prior conviction and false imprisonment, both felonies, as well as a misdemeanor count of criminal threats. As part of her plea deal a felony count of sexual penetration by foreign object and force was dismissed. Lawson has been in custody since June 11.
Lawson was placed on three years of probation and ordered to participate in a batterer's treatment program, an outpatient program and do eight hours of community service, according to court records.
Lawson was accused of attacking her girlfriend on April 23, with the alleged sexual assault and false imprisonment June 8, and the criminal threats on June 10, according to the criminal complaint.
Fullerton and Buena Park police investigated the alleged attacks, according to the complaint.
Lawson pleaded guilty Oct. 30, 2020, to corporal injury on a cohabitant and malicious damage of personal property, both misdemeanors. In that case she attacked a girlfriend when they lived together in Anaheim, according to court records.
Lawson was sentenced to 12 days in jail, eight hours of community service and was ordered to participate in a treatment program, which she completed, according to court records.
