There doesn't seem to be a clear consensus on who the best rookie in this year's NBA draft class is. Some feel is could be Zach Edey, the massive center who plays for the Memphis Grizzlies, but it could easily be one of several other players.
One potential candidate is Los Angeles Lakers wing Dalton Knecht. While he may not win the Rookie of the Year award, mostly because it will be hard for him to get lots of playing time, he could perhaps turn into the best rookie from this year's class several years from now.
His national visibility may improve a bit now that he has signed with Jordan Brand.
Knecht averaged 21.7 points a game on 45.8% field-goal shooting and 39.7% from 3-point range last season while with the University of Tennessee. In two regular season games with the Lakers, he has shown glimpses of the deadly sniper he seems to have the potential to become.
In Friday's 123-116 win over the Phoenix Suns, he came off the bench in the second quarter to hit back-to-back treys to help spark a successful rally from a 22-point deficit. He finished with eight points, two assists, one rebound and one steal in 13 minutes.
