Despite showing no indication that he has a game capable of playing in the NBA, Bronny James is expected to see the court for the Lakers in their season-opener against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
In doing so, James and his father LeBron will become the first father-son duo to play along side each other in NBA history.
ESPN's Shams Charania reports that James will likely sub in sometime early in Tuesday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
"I'm told it's very likely, and the Lakers plan that LeBron James, Bronny James make history as the first father-son duo to be on the court at the same time, and likely to come early in the game as long as it's competitive and it's a flowing game as far as where the Lakers are at early on in that game," Charania said on an episode of SportsCenter.
"I think that's going to be very important. The Lakers want to allow this to happen during the flow of the game in a competitive environment. JJ Redick said on Monday that here is no plan finalized yet for both of them to play together on opening night.
"But this is something the Lakers have spent a lot of time discussing internally. It's never happened in the NBA before. It may never, likely never happen again. You think about LeBron James in Year 22, he's really spoken this into existence. He's been talking about it for the last several years and now it is on the cusp of happening as soon as tonight."
Bronny James played in six preseason games for the Lakers. He scored 4.2 points per game on 24.32 percent shooting from the field and 8.3 percent for 3-point range.
He is clearly not an NBA player. To claim otherwise is an insult to fans of the Lakers and the league.
LeBron James has done enough for the league to orchestrate this whole thing. But don't insult fans by trying to claim it's anything other than gift to a LeBron.
