Texas man, 40, killed after striking pickup in head-on collision in Traill County

Oct. 21 -- TRAILL COUNTY -- A 40-year-old man from Rio Grande City, Texas, was killed in a head-on collision early Monday morning, Oct. 21, approximately one mile north of Grandin.

The man was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Impala northbound on County Road 81 in Traill County, according to a press release issued by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. A 2021 Chevrolet 2500 Silverado pickup, driven by 49-year-old Adrian Paul of Kindred, North Dakota, was pulling a trailer southbound.

The driver of the Impala crossed the center line and struck the pickup in a head-on collision. He succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene of the crash. His identity will be released later.

Both parties were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision. Road conditions were good, weather conditions were clear but dark and unlit, because the crash occurred just after 4 a.m., the release said.
