Future Hall of Famer Tom Brady was officially approved as part owner of the Las Vegas Raiders on Tuesday, and on Wednesday he arrived at the team facility for the first time in his new role.
The approval came after a long wait for Brady. The hold up had to do with concerns over a possible conflict of interest with Brady also being a broadcaster for FOX, but restrictions are in place to avoid that issue.
Along with partners, Brady will have a 10% share in the team. Fellow former New England Patriot and Hall of Famer Richard Seymour is joining Brady, also, and will reportedly have a 0.5% stake.
Upon arriving at the team facility on Wednesday, Brady had majority owner Mark Davis at his side and he was greeted with a standing ovation from team employees after making his entrance. The cool moment was captured on video.
Brady released a statement on Tuesday after news of the approval broke.
"I'm incredibly humbled and excited to have been unanimously approved as an owner of the Las Vegas Raiders," Brady wrote. "Throughout my NFL career, I've learned that at its core, football is a game of teamwork, resilience, and a relentless pursuit of excellent. The Raiders franchise, and the city of Las Vegas embody these same values, and I'm honored to become part of that story."
When asked about Brady becoming part owner, Davis expressed excitement for it, and even stated he hopes that Brady can not only help the team find its next quarterback, but train him, also.
"Although Tom can't play, I think he can help us select a quarterback in the future and potentially train as well," Davis said.
Brady is a massive get for the Raiders. Not only can he provide valuable input, he could also help recruit free agents. There is even a rumor circulating that Brady may gauge Bill Belichick's interest if the Raiders need a new head coach in 2025.
