LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) - Temperatures will be edging up this week, but more seasonable temperatures will follow early next week.
The early morning chill in the air each recent morning will return each day though the weekend. Our afternoons will get a little warmer, even becoming hot.
This afternoon will be much like yesterday. Generally sunny, very little wind, and quite warm. Temperatures will peak ten or more degrees above average for the date. Lubbock's October 8 average high is 78°. The record high is 98° (in 1979).
By the way, Lubbock's record low for today is 31° (in 1976).
Our next cold front is expected Sunday. It will drop temperatures to more seasonable levels early next week. At this time, precipitation is not anticipated.
Keep an eye on the forecast for updates. An earlier or later arrival of the front would affect temperatures, as would a stronger or weaker than anticipated cold front.
