Next Steps center looking for bunk bed builders

Jair Juarez of Antonio's Painting cleans up after a day of painting at the Next Steps Family Resilience Center, 825 Liberty Ave. Workers are on schedule to have 10 furnished apartments and a daycare center to open in March at the former Royce Elementary School in Beloit.

BELOIT - A non-profit organization with a stated mission that "no kid sleeps on the floor" will be in Beloit on Jan. 17 and 18 to help build bunk beds for the Next Steps Family Resilience Center.

The Waukesha County chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace will be setting up and supervising 14 different work stations to build 24 bunk beds that weekend. The hope is to find 80 Beloit-area volunteers - two groups of 40 people - who like to sand, cut and build things.
