Apple has announced that the Vision Pro, its premium spatial computing device, will finally be available in the UAE on November 15, with pre-orders starting from November 4. The price? AED 13,999.
If you are unaware, Apple's super-expensive virtual reality headset operates on visionOS, which enables users to interact with apps and information using eye, hand, and voice control. The Vision Pro's hardware includes high-resolution micro-LED displays with a combined total of 23m piels, alongside an advanced Spatial Audio System. It's powered by Apple M2 and R1 chips, and processes input from multiple sensors and cameras to provide responsive spatial interactions.
Currently, around 2,500 apps support Vision Pro natively, while it can also run an additional 1.5m iPhone and iPad apps. Vision Pro users can integrate their Mac workspace through the Mac Virtual Display feature, which allows Mac apps to function within the Vision Pro's spatial environment. Productivity apps like Microsoft 365, Zoom and Webex are supported, alongside compatibility with Apple's Magic Keyboard and Trackpad.
If you aim to use it for entertainment, you can stream content from Apple V+, Shahid and OSN+ natively, while if you want to watch YouTube and Netflix, you will have to use the built-in Safari browser to view them in a scaled-up virtual viewing format. The Vision Pro's App Store also provides additional interactive experiences like Apple's exclusive scripted film Submerged and immersive titles like Encounter Dinosaurs.
For gaming, Vision Pro supports 250 games on Apple Arcade, and leverages hand and eye tracking in new spatial games. It also has integration with Steam Link, so you can stream your PC games directly to the headset and even connect your PS5 or Xbox controllers to it.
Apple Vision Pro will be available on November 15, starting at AED 13,999 with 256GB, 512GB and 1TB storage options. For users who require vision correction, ZEISS Optical Inserts - Readers will be available for AED 379, and ZEISS Optical Inserts - Perscription will be available for AED 579. A travel case is also being sold for AED 799, and users can also buy AppleCare+ for AED 1,999.
