Bonneville County, Idaho - Idaho State Police (ISP) are investigating a fatal crash that occurred late Tuesday night on US26 near milepost 340, north of Iona.
At approximately 11:59 p.m. on October 22, 2024, ISP responded to a two-vehicle collision. A white Hyundai Sonata driven by a juvenile male from Idaho was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line, colliding with a blue Dodge pickup driven by a 28-year-old man from Rigby, Idaho. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The highway was blocked in both directions for more than five hours as emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage. ISP was assisted by the Idaho Transportation Department, Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho Falls EMS, and Fire.

In another recent fatal crash, an 18-year-old male lost his life on October 21, 2024, when his vehicle rolled through the median on I84 near Bliss after striking a light pole. The driver, who was ejected from his pickup, was then hit by an oncoming semi-truck and died at the scene. Idaho State Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
