Survey asks young people how safe they feel

A council is asking young people aged between 11 and 18 to take part in a survey to see how safe they feel.

The survey, which is being run by Maidstone Borough Council (MBC), allows people who answer to say how safe they feel at home, at school, and within their local community.

It also explores their online safety, experiences with crime, and both their own and their friends' risk-taking behaviours.

The survey is anonymized, enabling the council to identify trends across schools, year groups, and communities.

Councillor Dave Naghi, MBC's cabinet member for community cohesion and safety said: "It is crucial to understand how our young people feel when they are out in Maidstone.

"The results will help us understand any concerns and guide us in making Maidstone an even safer place for all and will contribute towards our next Community Safety Plan."

The council is offering incentives to schools and people to participate in the survey, including cash prices and shopping vouchers.
