Sri Lanka's health system has a long track record of strong performance, and it has made remarkable achievements in the health sector serving as a model for developing countries. "Leaving no one behind" is a central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the best way to achieve this goal is through universal health coverage (UHC), which means that all people - no matter who they are or where they live - can receive quality health services, when and where they are needed, without incurring financial hardship.
WHO's work on Sri Lanka for the period 2024-2030 will focus on these strategic priorities:
1. Support for strengthening efficiency, equity, quality, inclusiveness and resilience of PHC-oriented health system towards progressing to UHC.
2. Facilitate responding to demographic transition by enhancing health promotion and disease prevention in a strategic life-course approach.
3. Support for elevating health system preparedness, response and resilience for all hazards.
