Belinda is making a triumphant return to pop with one of Mexico's rising stars. Yesterday (Oct. 24), the Spanish-Mexican icon teamed up with Kenia Os for her new single "Jackpot." Belinda also released the cinematic music video for their collaboration, pulling inspiration from sci-fi movies like Star Wars.
After a few years of focusing on other projects, Belinda returned to music in January with her pop corrido "Cactus." She later teamed up with corridos tumbados pioneer Natanael Cano for their song "300 Noches." Belinda stayed within música mexicana with her trap-infused single "La Mala." Then in July, she started teasing a collaboration with Kenia. After a few months of waiting, "Jackpot" is finally here. The song marks Belinda's first time joining forces with another female Mexican artist.
Following all of Belinda's corridos, "Jackpot" is a return to her pop roots. In the dreamy and sultry banger, she embraces elements of house music with Kenia. Both women sing about romances that feel like winning big on a slot machine. "Let's go to the presidential suite / With you I won the jackpot," Belinda sings in Spanish. Kenia turns up the heat when she adds, "He forgot about his ex, and now I have her on top of me." Belinda continues to push the boundaries of pop with this alluring collaboration.
In the "Jackpot" music video, Belinda and Kenia take a trip to outer space. When they're not partying and gambling with aliens, both women channel Barbarella in an intergalactic shootout. The credits scroll upwards at the end, reminiscent of the Star Wars movies. Together, Belinda and Kenia give those sci-fi classics a fierce makeover.
