New brunch, bakery spot headed to rapidly-growing San Antonio area

Last month, Alamo Biscuit Co. & Panaderia publicly announced that it will be opening a new location on the San Antonio River Walk. A new filing shows that the popular brunch spot is continuing its expansion with a new restaurant on San Antonio's Southside.

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation lists a recent filing for an Alamo Biscuit Co. location at a development near Brooks, otherwise known as Brooks City Base or City Base. The development is called La Picosa, according to details included in the filing.

The new Alamo Biscuit Co. will cost an estimated $600,000 to bring to life and will include an interior finish-out to make way for the restaurant. A start date is listed in the TDLR filing as April 7, 2025 with a proposed completion date of November 17, 2025.

Meanwhile, the restaurant will be working on its River Walk location, which has a tentative opening for March 2025. That location will be under Fogo de Chão, in the former home of Spanish restaurant Enrique Tomás. It will seat up to 250 guests indoors and includes a patio space with a view of the San Antonio River.

Alamo Biscuit Co. continues to operate locations in the Medical Center area and another spot at Methodist Hospital Metropolitan.
