On Monday the U.S. Forest Service confirmed the arson investigation into the Northern Harrison County brush fire is still ongoing.
Last Wednesday, fire officials responded to reports of a brush fire along Carson Rd, which ended up impacting several hundred acres in Northern Harrison County. The U.S. Forest Service confirmed on Monday afternoon that their investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and the only information they can confirm is that the fire is fully contained and ended up impacting a total of 1,333 acres.
The Harrison County Sheriff's Office is also assisting with the investigation, but their officials stated that at this time there is no suspect.
With those responsible for the fire still held unaccountable, local residents fear what could happen if the suspect is not identified.
"The thing is we have a lot families that live around here, and some people in the area can't afford to have insurance on their house. If an arsonist is on the loose and a fire gets to those houses, they're in a lot of trouble," said J.C. who lives in Northern Harrison County.
Buddy, another resident from Northern Harrison County, spoke on how whoever is responsible for the act of arson needs to be held accountable.
"It was an inconvenience for local residents because of all the smoke. So I just think they should be caught."
