MENDOCINO, CA -- Deputies from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office arrested Riordan Wilhelmi after a standoff at a residence in Mendocino following a report of an alleged domestic violence incident involving his former girlfriend. The incident unfolded around 12:25 p.m. on Alderwood Road when the victim, a 37-year-old woman, reported being attacked, choked and threatened with a firearm by Wilhelmi during a property exchange after their recent breakup.

Additional officers from the California Highway Patrol, State Parks, and Fish and Wildlife arrived within minutes to secure the scene while Mendocino deputies traveled from Manchester, approximately 30 miles away. The victim, who had escaped to a safe location in Mendocino, informed authorities that Wilhelmi's mother remained at the residence and had also been allegedly injured, though neither requested medical attention.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered that Wilhelmi had barricaded himself inside his studio attached to the garage. Given the violent nature of the incident and the involvement of a firearm, officers established a secure perimeter and awaited SWAT reinforcements from the Mendocino County Sheriff's Office.

With SWAT in place, deputies attempted negotiations. After initial attempts failed, officers used a tactical drone to observe the room's interior and ensure officer safety. SWAT operatives issued commands, leading Wilhelmi to exit the studio voluntarily. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Wilhelmi was booked at the Mendocino County Jail on charges including domestic battery, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon, and probation violation. He is currently held on a no-bail status due to his probation violation.
