Edmonds motel raided after investigation of child overdosing, man arrested

Edmonds police arrested a 35-year-old man Wednesday morning during a drug raid at a motel in the 23900 block of Highway 99, the Edmonds Police Department announced.

The arrest followed a months-long narcotics investigation led by the department's Problem-Solving Emphasis Team (PSET).

Investigators had developed probable cause that occupants of a motel room were selling fentanyl and methamphetamine.

During the execution of the search warrant shortly after 6:30 a.m., officers recovered additional methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, prescription pills, and $1,200 in cash.

The suspect, an Edmonds resident, was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for possession with intent to deliver controlled substances.

Earlier this year, Edmonds police had investigated a near overdose death of a child in a different room at the same motel.

This incident prompted PSET to examine the drug activity at the location further, leading to credible information that resulted in the search warrant.

"EPD will continue to work with motel owners to ensure that they do not endorse or permit criminal activity, as this conduct directly impacts other area businesses and our Edmonds community's health, safety, and quality of life," the department stated.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and police indicated that more arrests may occur.
