Driedger was designated for waivers by the Panthers on Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.

Driedger's placement on waivers clears the way for him to be reassigned to AHL Charlotte, assuming he clears, after Tuesday's clash with the Bruins. While Sergei Bobrovsky will be manning the crease in that contest, the 30-year-old Driedger will serve as the backup. Once he clears, the Winnipeg native figures to switch places with Spencer Knights, who is expected to be called up in a corresponding move.
