Netflix is removing the majority of its interactive specials from the streaming platform.
On December 1, 2024, Netflix will delist all but four of the interactive specials that are currently available on the streaming platform. The first interactive special that Netflix released was Puss in Boots: Trapped in an Epic Tale; however, that hasn't been available on the stream for some time now.
The Verge confirmed the news of the forthcoming removals. "The technology served its purpose, but is now limiting as we focus on technological efforts in other areas," spokesperson Chrissy Kelleher said.
What interactive specials are being removed from Netflix and what ones will still be available?
At the time of this article's publication, there are currently 24 titles listed under Netflix's interactive specials page. According to The Verge, the only four that will remain after December 1, 2024, are Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend, Ranveer vs. Wild with Bear Grylls, and You vs. Wild.
This means that titles such as Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile, Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout, Captain Underpants Epic Choice-o-Rama, The Boss Baby: Get That Baby!, Carmen Sandiego: To Steal or Not to Steal, Spirit Riding Free: Ride Along Adventure, Animals on the Loose: A You vs. Wild Movie, Escape The Undertaker, Headspace: Unwind Your Mind, Johnny Test's Ultimate Meatloaf Quest, The Last Kids on Earth: Happy Apocalypse to You, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous: Hidden Adventure, Barbie Epic Road Trip, Cat Burglar, Trivia Quest, Triviaverse, Choose Love, You vs. Wild: Out Cold, and We Lost Our Human will all be leaving Netflix and not have a streaming platform at the start of next month.
A Minecraft: Story Mode interactive special was also removed from the streaming platform in December 2022, according to What's On Netflix, while Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale was removed in January 2024.
