The LAPD estimated more than 200,000 people showed up for the Dodgers World Series parade Friday morning.
Dodgers Manager Dave Roberts posed the question during the trophy ceremony after Game 5 Wednesday, asking "Who wants a parade?" On Friday, they got it.
Dodger fans partied like it's 1988, the last full season championship for the boys in blue. From doing something that's never been done before, like a walk-off grand slam to win Game 1 of the World Series, down to the last out.
"Freddie Freeman, woo!", cheered Krystal Rosales, Dodger fan of 38 years, as she mimics the swinging of a baseball bat. "Walk-off grand slam baby, that was lit!"
"It was great, just to see an old Dodger in Alex Verdugo get struck out by Walker Buehler," said fan of 42 years, Nathaniel Munoz.
It's a party for these players, and for these fans, who were denied a chance to celebrate in 2020.
"Awesome," said Ryan Braddock, fan of 49 years. "First parade I've ever been to, so it's great."
"We would have had a parade in 2020, however it was the COVID year, we weren't allowed to have a parade," said Rosales. "We're making up for 2020 and for this year, all in one. You see the blocks and blocks of just blue, baby."
Lawsuit filed against Kern Elections Division, Secretary of State
It's a chance for fans to see the trophy up close and to see their favorite players in a different way.
Such as, the usually intense Walker Buehler, a little more laid back, and possibly inebriated, as he drops what appeared to be beer, and Kike Hernandez celebrating shirtless in the parade. Of course, winning a championship feels great, but it always feels good to beat that team from the Bronx.
"It always feels good beating the Yankees," said Munoz. "Who doesn't love beating the Yankees?"
Regardless of who it's against, a trophy for the Dodgers, for Los Angeles, is what matters most.
"2020 was fantastic. Now, there's no doubt," said Munoz. "So many people had so much doubt in the Dodgers just because [2020] wasn't a full season and here we are raising the trophy again? How lucky are we? Two in five years, hell yeah."
"They're all special," said Braddock. "They're all championships. Go Dodgers!"
