Joe Burrow Makes Unfortunate History in Loss to Ravens

Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals suffered their fourth loss of the season in Week 5, as they were on the wrong end of a 41-38 shootout against the Baltimore Ravens.

While Burrow and the Bengals offense played spectacularly, their defense could not slow down Lamar Jackson and company, and a missed field goal in overtime from Evan McPherson set the Ravens up for their third win of the year.

Burrow did virtually all that he could to win Cincy this game (30/39, 392 YDS, 5 TD, 1 INT), but it ended up not being enough. In the process, Burrow made some unfortunate history in the NFL by putting together an outing not seen in a losing effort since Patrick Mahomes did it with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Usually when you get this good of a performance from your quarterback, your team will find a way to win. It's rare when it happens, but even with Burrow's greatness, it wasn't enough for the Bengals to win.

While Burrow's play is encouraging, the Bengals now have just a 1-4 record, meaning they are running out of time to turn their season around.

Cincinnati will be hoping to get back in the win column in Week 6, and if Burrow plays as well as he did in this one, chances are they will be able to overcome the New York Giants.
