Tuesday is opening night for the NHL and the Minnesota Gophers are once again well-represented.
A total of 31 former Gophers participated in NHL training camps and 13 will be on opening-night rosters for 11 different clubs. Additionally, two more are on NHL rosters but will start the season on injured reserve.
Last season, a total of 26 ex-Gophers played at the NHL level, tying the program record for most in a single year. It also ended up being the third consecutive season a former Gopher won the Stanley Cup when Kyle Okposo won with Florida (Phil Kessel-2023, Erik Johnson-2022).
