If you didn't know Forbes magazine issued its list of the World's Most Powerful Women and they have ranked them. Though I'm not too sure about some of the rankings but we'll discuss that now.
I'm reading about the accomplishments of the World's Most Powerful Women on the Forbes list and they are giants in their fields of technology, finance, business, and entertainment.
The only issue there could be is with the rankings. They go from 1 to 100. and I'm telling you now we need some number changes and I'll give you my pursuasive argument.
Let's talk #1, world power, uh, who has more power than someone who has an economy named after them? This woman does and her name is Taylor Swift.
Not only is she a force to be recoekned with she left her mark on Iowa. When Taylor Swift made her last appearance in Iowa. It was in Des Moines at the Wells Fargo arena on October 8, 2015, following the release of 1989.
She will also be remembered by Iowans for being one of the artists who performed at the sold-out Alliant Energy Powerhouse on August 8, 2008, following the devastating floods here in Cedar Rapids. Also donating $100K to the Red Cross for flood relief. The Taylor Swift effect was beginning to be felt. If you're not aware of the Taylor Swift effect let me enlighten you.
Here are the things that happen when Taylor Swift comes to town
Taylor Swift's influence goes beyond just music -- she's had a huge impact on popular culture. Her music, performances, and overall image have shaped trends and sparked conversations.
Her style? It's a big deal, too. Swift's fashion choices have inspired many, with fans regularly trying to recreate her iconic looks. On top of that, her views on politics have resonated with a lot of people, encouraging her fans to engage in political discussions and activism.
One thing Taylor does really well is build relationships with her fans. She stays connected through exclusive offers, making them feel like they're part of her journey.
When it comes to her tours, the numbers are huge. Taylor's tours have generated billions in revenue, and they've had a positive effect on the local economies where she performs. It's not just about the concerts; it's the ripple effect on local businesses, too.
Her presence at major events -- like the Super Bowl -- has boosted the brand value of companies and organizations, including the NFL and the Kansas City Chiefs. Beyond that, her concerts lead to increased consumer spending, as fans often travel for shows, buy merchandise, and spend money in the cities she visits.
Taylor's social media presence is massive. Her fans are always online, sharing content about her music, concerts, and personal life. This constant buzz keeps her in the public eye and helps boost her brand recognition.
And let's not forget the effect she has on brands. When Taylor partners with a company, it's a big deal. Brands associated with her automatically gain credibility and prestige, thanks to her influence. That's why I think she's a #1 candidate.
The other number I'm a bit weary of is #100. That's where Forbes placed Caitlin Clark. Again I'm a bit confused. Yes, politicians are powerful but sometimes people vote for them and don't always agree or maybe they had to pick one. You might be a titan of finance or business but when someone hears you'll be in town do they rush to buy a ticket? Does the price of that ticket skyrocket by the mere mention of your appearance? If she returns to Iowa for anything, good luck getting in.
We can look at numbers or heck watch YouTube videos and see the impact there. This is a woman who puts behinds in seats in a big way. I was at early WNBA games and the crowd at Washington Mystic games was light. A Mystic player knew the owner of the beer store I worked at so we got free tickets. Even right before Caitlin Clark, the sellouts weren't consistent and now they're the norm.
Not just that but whatever Caitlin Clark touches, just like Taylor Swift seems to be scooped up by fans very quickly. Do any of these others on the list have an endorsement list like this?
In the end the list and the numbers are there to make us talk and that we have. You can see this amazing list in its entirety here (Forbes List of The World's Most Powerful Women).
