Falcons troll Lakers guard D'Angelo Russell on social media after defeating the Cowboys

The memory of D'Angelo Russell having a very poor shooting performance against the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 Western Conference Finals is still fresh in the minds of Los Angeles Lakers fans. He mustered just 6.3 points a game and shot 32.3% from the field and 13.3% from 3-point range as the Lakers got swept by the eventual NBA champions.

Following Game 1, he remained on the court to practice his shot, which became a meme across social media where various teams would troll Russell by placing a photo of him practicing his shot that night in the background of a main photo.

The Atlanta Falcons became the latest to do so after they defeated the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. The team's official X (formerly Twitter) account posted an image of linebacker Kaden Elliss with its mascot to take a shot at Russell (h/t The Sports Rush).

Russell's play has been uneven to begin the new NBA season. He's averaging 12.2 points a game on 40.3% overall shooting and 29.4% from downtown, but he scored a season-high 19 points on 13 shots while adding six assists in L.A.'s 131-125 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday.
