This one went better for the Bulldogs, who had lost at Alabama three weeks earlier.
Here's how we graded the Bulldogs after they snapped Texas' 11-game home winning streak with a 30-15 upset:
Georgia ran out to a 23-0 lead with its offense not getting much out of Carson Beck and the passing game. Georgia managed just 283 yards of total offense, but its defense set up scores by creating turnovers. Carson Beck threw three interceptions.
Georgia shut out Texas in the first half and survived after losing two secondary starters, Dan Jackson and Joenel Aguero, in the fourth quarter for targeting. The Bulldogs forced three fumbles and an interception and limited Texas to 29 rushing yards.
Peyton Woodring was 3-for-3 on field goals. Brett Thorson averaged 54 yards on four punts. Georgia did a squib kick, which it may have intended to be an onside kick, to start the second half that gave Texas the ball at its own 45.
Few picked Georgia to win this game, but Kirby Smart and his staff had his team -- particularly the defense -- ready for a near-peak performance.
You go on the road and beat an unbeaten No. 1 team by two touchdowns as an underdog, you get your flowers. Georgia heads into an open date in great shape for the playoff.
