Wauconda man charged in Bucktown hit-and-run that seriously injured woman

A north suburban man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run last year in Bucktown that left a woman seriously injured.

Michael Reznik, 37, was allegedly speeding westbound in the 2100 block of West Armitage Avenue about 10:50 p.m. May 4, 2024, when he struck the 40-year-old woman who was walking in a crosswalk, Chicago police said.

The woman suffered a brain bleed and fractures to her pelvis, leg and spine, according to court documents.

Reznik fled the scene in a dark blue 2006 Bentley, police said.

Officers contacted his attorney last week and arranged for Reznik to turn himself in, police said.

Reznik, of Wauconda, was arrested Tuesday and charged with one felony count each of leaving the scene of an accident and aggravated reckless driving, and one misdemeanor count of failure to give information and render aid. He was also issued other traffic citations.

He was released from custody following an initial court appearance Wednesday. His next court date is Feb. 3.
