Before his injury, Brandon Rose was on track to have arguably the most impressive performance by a Utah quarterback this season, and against BYU no less, which had many fans eager to see him develop further and potentially go into 2025 as the program's starter.
Fast-forward almost exactly a month after that performance, and Rose has officially announced his intent to enter the transfer portal with two years left of eligibility, giving the program even more reason to go fishing in the transfer portal.
With Rose and Bottari gone, Cam Rising's future with the program still yet to be determined, and Isaac Wilson projected to leave the program, Utah's current quarterback room consists of Sam Huard, Dallen Engemann, Jamarian Ficklin, and Wyatt Becker.
The arrival of Jason Beck as the program's new offensive coordinator has sparked rumors of electric New Mexico quarterback Devin Dampier following his coach to Salt Lake City, and with every new departure, that possibility seems more like an imminent reality.
Rose's decision has hit the Utah faithful hard, especially considering how he stuck with the program despite never being able to get a shot until this season, and when he finally did, he delivered, but he will get the fans' full support wherever he goes as a result.
As the team inches closer and closer to a full revamp, these types of moves highlight the program's need to shop heavily in the portal and address key positions such as quarterback so that Beck has the personnel in place to execute his offense without restriction, ensuring that the 2024 campaign becomes a one-off distant memory.
