Hot pot and Korean BBQ restaurant plans winter opening in Ballston | ARLnow.com

An all-you-can-eat hot pot and Korean barbecue spot aims to open in Ballston early next year.

Construction work on Top Pot is underway on the ground floor of the Ballston Quarter mall (671 N. Glebe Road). The restaurant expects to open by early February in a 7,600-square-foot space between Mezeh and Chick-fil-A, Marketing Director Matthew Hall told ARLnow.

The space has room for up to 260 customers, he said.

Like other hot pot establishments, Top Pot customers have a hand in preparing their own food with communal table-side grills and simmer pots.

Hot pot offerings include dozens of varieties of meat, seafood, tofu, vegetables and noodles, along with 10 different broths. Korean barbecue options, meanwhile, range from Angus beef and chicken bulgogi to garlic calamari and spicy octopus.

"The menu will be similar compared to the other locations, but this location might offer premium a la carte items at an additional cost," Hall said.

Some Top Pot locations serve unlimited appetizers, like lo mein, fried rice and seafood pancakes. All-you-can-eat meals come at fixed prices, which vary between locations.

The business has several other locations in states including Pennsylvania, Florida and Utah. The nearest to Arlington is in College Park, Md.

Top Pot comes from the same management team behind Dumpling District and Kung Fu Tea, which also have locations in Ballston Quarter.
