'Concert for Carolina' tickets going on sale to support Helene victims: What to know

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Tickets for the Hurricane Helene benefit performance "Concert for Carolina" will go on sale Thursday morning, both online and at the box office.

Concert for Carolina is the show organized by North Carolina native Luke Combs, which he will headline, along with fellow North Carolinian Eric Church on Saturday, Oct. 26 at Bank of America Stadium.

In addition to Combs and Church, Billy Strings and James Taylor were also part of the original lineup. On Wednesday, it was announced that Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban and Bailey Zimmerman will also perform.

All proceeds from Concert for Carolina will go to support Helene relief efforts. The money will be split 50/50 between chosen charities of Combs and Church.

Church's portion will go toward his Chief Cares Foundation, while Combs' will be distributed between Samaritan's Purse, Manna Food Bank and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina.

When approached by Combs, Carolina Panthers owner David Tepper offered the stadium as the concert venue. The Teppers previously pledged $3 million toward relief efforts immediately after Helene struck.

"No matter where we are, what we are doing, we always try to lend a helping hand," Tepper said. "This one is big. People weren't expecting it. You don't expect to have that kind of flooding out there, the problems we have out there. So everyone needs to pitch in and do their part right now."

As for Combs and Church, their roots in western North Carolina caused them to feel a strong need to give back.

"Seeing places that you hung out as a child, or places that you went to your friends' wedding almost cease to exist in some way, while still being there is really unfathomable for me," Combs said of the devastation.

"This is not a month's thing; this is a years thing to rebuild the infrastructure and community there," Church said. "We've got everyone's attention right now, but in a few months, it is still going to be really important we think about rebuilding what was, what we think of, as western North Carolina."

Tickets to Concert for Carolina can be purchased at the Bank of America Stadium box office beginning Thursday at 10 a.m. Online ticket sales will open at the same time, and can be purchased here. Fans buying online should be in the Ticketmaster queue at least 10 minutes before tickets go on sale.

No added fees will be added for those who purchase tickets online, and should cost the same as those bought at the box office. There is a limit of eight tickets per person.
