Saturday bus service cuts
LAWRENCE -- On Saturdays, all MeVa transit bus routes are now running every 60 minutes and only during daytime hours.
The changes went into effect Sept. 21, and will remain through year's end, unless MeVa's driver numbers rise, in which case the service will return to pre-Sept. 21 levels, according to MeVa administrator Noah Berger.
"This is a 100 percent temporary measure," Berger said.
At last check the transit authority had a roster of 86 drivers, with 79 of them active.
The Saturday service reduction comes in the wake of a post-pandemic expansion in service and ridership.
