Deputy, officer, 3 juveniles injured in North Texas fight involving about 200 teens

One deputy, an officer and three juveniles were injured after an officer's gun discharged while police tried to stop a fight among about 200 teens near North Forney High School.

Around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, Kaufman County sheriff's deputies and multiple other agencies responded to a large fight in progress at Falcon Way and Jersey Street, officials said in a news release.

"During efforts to de-escalate the situation, an officer's weapon discharged, striking the street," officials said. "Fragments from the discharge injured a Kaufman County deputy, a Forney ISD officer, and three juveniles."

Officials said the officer received on-site medical attention, while the deputy and the three juveniles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to area hospitals.

The incident is under investigation and further information about any arrests was not immediately available, officials said.

The identities of the injured officers and juveniles have not been released.
