On Tuesday (October 8), Garth Brooks filed a pair of complaints in response to the sexual assault allegations made against him on October 3 by his former hairstylist and makeup artist. In one of those complaints, the 62-year-old country superstar actually named his accuser, while also referring to her lawsuit as an "extortion attempt." Brooks' legal team stated in one complaint that the "false" allegations "would irreparably harm Plaintiff's reputation, family, career and livelihood." In response to Brooks disclosing the name of his accuser, who initially filed her lawsuit under the name, "Jane Doe," the woman's lawyers released the following statement: "Garth Brooks just revealed his true self. With no legal justification, Brooks outed her because he thinks the laws don't apply to him. On behalf of our client, we will be moving for maximum sanctions against him immediately." (People)
