Several elite squads bolstered their playoff résumés in Week 8, including Detroit Cass Tech, which avenged an earlier loss to Detroit King, Grand Blanc, which upset rival Davison, Byron Center, which put a dent in Muskegon's playoff hopes, and Walled Lake Western, which edged returning Division 3 runner-up Mason.
