FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) - Those who have not already eaten all their Halloween candy can earn money, prevent cavities, and brighten a service member's day by giving it to Willow Dental Group in Fresno.
Willow Dental Group will be buying back candy to send to soldiers and first responders on Friday and Monday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The collected candy will be sent to Move America Forward, a nonprofit that sends care packages to U.S. Service Members and local first responders.
Trick-or-treaters will receive $2 for every pound of candy and can sell up to 5 pounds. All candy must be unopened and non-powder.
"Ditch the candy, that's what we're saying. Visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excessive sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost," Dr. Shawn Anderson from Willow Dental Group said.
In addition to the candy collection, there will also be a letter-writing station for children to write thank-you notes and draw pictures to be included for the troops and first responders.
