An investigation was underway on Christmas Eve (Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024) after a deadly crash involving a motorcyclist near The Broadmoor World Arena in Colorado Springs.

An investigation was underway on Christmas Eve after a deadly crash involving a motorcyclist.

According to the Colorado Springs Police Department, it got the call just after 9 a.m. Tuesday for the crash right outside The Broadmoor World Arena, close to Cheyenne Meadows Road and Venetucci Boulevard.

As of 9:10 a.m. Tuesday, there were lane closures in the area.

Early into the investigation police believe the crash involved a motorcycle and one other vehicle and everyone involved stayed at the scene. The motorcyclist, identified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office as Domenic Gatlin, 19, died at the scene.

A GoFundMe has been created by Gatlin's family to help cover funeral expenses.

This marks 48 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs for 2024. In total in 2023, local police reported 50 traffic fatalities. In 2022 saw 57 and 2021 saw 51.
