Morning temperatures were chilly early Thursday with some outlying areas seeing temps in the low 30s to start the day.
The National Weather Service says Thursday will be a typical late October day with variable high clouds, and highs warming into the mid-to-high 50s in most areas and a few locations seeing daytime highs hit the low 60s.
Portland will have a partly sunny Thursday, and a high expected to reach near 56 degrees.
Friday will be even warmer, but that warm air comes with some blustery conditions near the west end of the Columbia River Gorge. Portland skies will be mostly sunny, and the high will reach about 62 degrees.
Gusty easterly winds are likely across the Cascades and through the gorge into the east end of the Portland/Vancouver area. The gorge could see gusts of 35-45 mph all the way to the Troutdale area. Other portions of east Multnomah and Clark counties may see gusts of 20-30 mph.
Rain from a weakening front moves in overnight Friday. Portland could see rain start at about 11 p.m. The weather service says rainfall from Friday night into Saturday morning could total as much as a half an inch.
Portland will see rain transition to showers by mid-morning Saturday. The high will be about 61 degrees under cloudy skies.
Rain continues on Sunday, but the air will cool significantly. Portland should only see a high of 56 degrees. Thunderstorms are possible by the afternoon.
Extended forecasts agree on more rain to start next week, and cooler high temps in the low 50s. Snow is likely on the Cascade passes both Monday and Tuesday.
