FARGO -- No. 2-seeded North Dakota State scored 31 unanswered points Saturday afternoon at Gate City Bank Field at the Fargodome.
That scoring burst helped the Bison overcome an early 14-point deficit and rally for a 51-31 victory against No. 15-seeded Abilene Christian in the second round of the NCAA Division I FCS playoffs before 10,373 fans.
NDSU (11-2) is slated to host No. 7 seed Mercer next weekend in the FCS quarterfinals. The Bison have a 36-1 record in FCS playoff games played in the Fargodome.
Bison true freshman Jackson Williams had a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that shifted the game's momentum in the second quarter after ACU had built a 17-3 lead.
NDSU quarterback Cam Miller completed 20 of 29 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Bison linebacker Logan Kopp added a 31-yard interception return for a touchdown.
