8 ways to get your North Jersey home ready for winter: Video
Here are 8 ways to get your North Jersey home ready for winter.
We can probably all admit that we tend to be a bit curious about the home improvements our North Jersey neighbors are making. But have you ever wished you could get an inside look into the renovation? Now you can with a home here in Bergen County on PBS's "This Old House."
The iconic home improvement show -- which has been showcasing renovation projects across the nation since 1997 -- will highlight a dated 1930s Colonial Revival home in Ridgewood as it gets a facelift for the second half of season 46, which airs on Jan. 2.
Hosted by Kevin O'Connor, the project will be completed with the help of Rutherford-based builder Zach Dettmore and his team at Dettmore Home Improvements. You can also expect to see the show's core cast of home improvement experts, including Tom Silva, Richard Trethewey and Jenn Nawada.
"This time, we're in Ridgewood and we've got a Colonial built in the 1930s. It hasn't been touched for almost 50 years," O'Connor said in an Instagram video. "Relatively new homeowners are looking for some upgrades, some energy efficiency and some general improvements."
Renovations on this three-bedroom, two-bathroom home, purchased in 2019 by its current owners, Peter Field and Kay Bhothinard, will include creating a bigger and more functional kitchen, reformatting the home's first floor to make it better for entertaining, and updating the failing plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems.
This modest home will also receive a two-story rear addition to create a new primary suite, as well as new waterproofing, siding and energy-efficient windows, the show said on Instagram.
Starting on Jan. 2, the episodes featuring this Ridgewood home will air weekly on PBS. New episodes can also be streamed on the Roku Channel and ThisOldHouse.com.
