There is no shortage of products to turn to this holiday season if you're suffering from dry eyes, but there is one brand you shouldn't purchase nor use for the time being.
Here's what you need to know about the Food and Drug Administration's announced recall of Systane single-use eye drops.
The FDA published the recall of Systane eye drops during Christmas Week, warning the public of a possibly dangerous fungal infection.
The recall impacts Systane Lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF, Single Vials on-the-go 25 count boxes, lot # 10101 with an exportation date of September 2029, only.
"Fungal contamination of an ophthalmic product is known to potentially cause eye infections," read a portion of the FDA's recall notice. "If an infection occurs, it may be vision-threatening, and in very rare cases potentially life-threatening in immunocompromised patients."
The FDA advises that you discontinue use and either discard the recalled Systane single-use eye drops or return them to the store for a refund.
